Our "Guru" Obagi rep answers some questions on Blue Peel.
Q:- i have provided my clients with a selection of facial peel mainly (tca) and whilst this dose cause a harsh burning and stinging dose the blue peel cause the same sensation or is this a more sever sensation .
A: The Blue Peel is a medium depth TCA peel. The peel is performed using a 30% concentration of TCA. The Blue Peel is designed to penetrate to the Papillary Dermis. Anytime that you do a peel to the Papillary Dermis you will have burning and stining
Q: - dose the peel leave the skin tone discoulered and for how long ?
A: The Blue peel does not leave the skin discoulered unless you decide not to wash of the Blue Dye. The healing time is 5 to 7 days. In terms of hyper or hypo pigmentation the Blue peel is designed to eliminate those factors and put the control of the desired outcome into the physicians hands.
Q: - what is the pre treatment prior to the peel and lenght of time (ie) how long do you suggest your clients use prep products before you apply the peel ?
A: We suugest that our clients prep for 6 weeks prior to the peel. For patienst with Fitzpatrick Skin Types of 4 or 5 we recommend 12 to 18 weeks.
Q: -are there any contra indications or is the peel safe for any one ?
A: The peel is safe for anyone if they have been properly pre treated with the Obagi Nu Derm and the patient is compliant with the pre and post treatment procedures
